FSEEK.COM Program to speed up disc drives
Placed in the public domain 2-22-90
This program was inspired by a fine program of the same name by
Kirby Devore,a "C"language programmer. I thought I would learn a
little bit about the language, but being a really rotten typist, I
thought,"Man,it really would be shorter in Assembly than C".
Moreover,in playing with his program, I discovered that there was no
protection from a stupid operator. (This may be picking nits,as he
probably deserves what he gets.HaHa. Anyway, this is the result.
the assembly source file has a fair explanation of the operation of
the program, and this is more typing than I've done in a lifetime, so
I will shut up.
1. Oh yeah, if you have Kirby's program already, you still won't
have a problem, since mine is "FSEEK.COM" his is "FSEEK.EXE". DOS will
take mine over his,but you might want to REName one to something else
to remove any possible confusion.
2. Also, if you compare the amount of keyboarding involved in the
two source files, you will find the ass'y program significantly shorter.
AND 175 BYTES long instead of 10+K!!! Kirby, you listening ?
3.I have been using the "beta version" (hyuck hyuck) for months in my
Klone 8mHz XT (it's in my AUTOEXEC.BAT file) with zero problems.
